Jennyo – Thanks for the sanity check. I think the same conspiracy comments were made on this board last summer when they released growth projections..

July 10, 2007 at 11:28 AM #65050blahblahblahParticipantby then, all the jobs will be outsourced to mexico anyway. californians will be border jumping to work in the maquiladoras.
Many of the maquiladoras will be gone by then because of even cheaper competitors from China. The only jobs left in Mexico will be unloading Chinese container ships and driving trucks, just as soon as the SPP/NAU goes through. I’m sure everyone on this board will be allright, though — your jobs could never be outsourced, after all…

July 10, 2007 at 11:33 AM #65052gold_dredger_phdParticipantPerry’s comment just confirms my observation that liberals hate American culture and America in general and can’t wait to see it Balkanized and broken up. A hatred of people of Northern European ancestry seems to be part of that package deal. It’s at least implied by saying “they” can just move to Montana.
Actually, this type of guilty-white liberal, all-cultures-are-equal thinking is a self-liquidating ideology. It seems to be most prevalent among the ex-hippies or neo-hippies of the Boomer generation. I’m going to enjoy watching your kind die out over the next 20 to 40 years.
California is not just going to be like Miami, it’s going to be part of Mexico.
If you want to see what this multi-culti ideology leads to, just look at Britain. They are celebrating diversity one car bomb at a time. They just can’t seem to commit cultural suicide fast enough.

July 10, 2007 at 12:51 PM #65013LA_RenterParticipantJennyo, thanks for clarifying that. I did indicate I could be wrong. I think it is the narrative of the piece that seems to play into a RE permabull argument. That could be unintended. I think it would have ben a better article if they brought out the current state of population growth in the state. The decrease of the 25 – 44 demographic, the closing of elementary schools throughout the area, The high velocity outbound status of moving companies etc. This is a key topic of debate in California RE right now. In the short term CA is actually losing key elements of its population.

gold_dredger, there’s no guilt and no hate at all here. If I’m around a bunch of Spanish speakers and I want to understand then I go to school rather than bitch about it.
The hate is coming from those who are ignorant and lazy, and who won’t make the effort to learn.
The constitution equally protects old-timers and new-comers. And English is not constitutionally guaranteed. If a large portion of the population chooses to speak Spanish, then so be it.
It’s better to learn and adapt, or move. You only hurt yourself when you resent others.
My friend in a Naval Officer coordinating military exercises in South Korea. They complained that the Korean military should provide more translators. The response was “you’re welcomed to bring your own.” My friend thought about it and agreed. Either bring our own translators or learn Korean because the Koreans they work with don’t seem to have a problem speaking English.
