ParticipantI just heard from an ex-coworker that just took a 6 month contract job for $40/hr. He could have found better but didn’t want to move, wanted to work from home, and this was the best overall offer that he’s seen since he was laid off 4 months ago.

ParticipantThis reminds of recruiters I was UNfortunate to work with. When I was unemployed in the past I used to send resumes to any job postings I found. Turns out many many job postings were FAKE ones posted by recruiters to harvest resumes.
One recruiter did contact me for a Novell NetWare admin position. And the thing is I didn’t list anything related to Novell on my resume. There was NOTHING on my resume about Novell.
Ever since that experience I only sent resumes to actual companies that were hiring, not recruiters.
Recruiters are much like unethical mortgage broker, maybe because they get paid based on ‘performance’.

ParticipantRecruiting is a sales job, and you are the product. Understand that and you can be at peace with it.
