Restaurants suffer

I second Tacos al Gordo. Best street-style tacos you can get in the USA. Chula Vista has some AMAZING Mexican food. And CHEAP too. Unfortunately, most gringos are afraid of going down there, but its their loss because the food is to die for. Agave Grill has some outstanding seafood, not like you’ve ever had before. We’re talking Sinaloa style Mexican. Tacos, burritos, etc are good, but they only represent northern Mexico and don’t cover all that Mexican food has to offer. Creamy, chesey sauces — almost more Italian than what most people think of Mexican. There are also some amazing torta shops all along Broadway in Chula Vista. Elotes and horchata FTW.

The only Mexican I like is the consommé with a zest of lime. The flan is good too.

I just had an angioplasty last Thursday. I now have a stent in my coronary artery. The nurses said, “but he is such a young man”. I am only about 10 pounds overweight, but a life long eating whatever I wanted finally caught up with me.

All this talk about ethnic, cholestrol be dammned restaurant food now makes me cringe. I now have to be more selective in my food choices.

My “minor” heart attack happened while I was in Las Vegas. I was staying in hotel room #1107 (very lucky) and after I left the hospital I decided to sit down at the blackjack table for an hour or so. I won a couple hundred bucks and then went to my hotel room to sleep and ponder the stent that I now had in my coronary artery.

The bottom line-eat heart smart.

I never thought that “it would happen to me”, but it did.
