ParticipantHave you tried looking in the newspaper? Both the UT and the Reader have lots of rental ads. Some private landlords still like to advertise in print.

ParticipantYou’re looking at the most desireable areas. Perhaps bulletin boards at the bigger coffee houses. I found a winner in Encinitas that way in 2004.

ParticipantI had the same problem last year when we were considering a different home in Scripps. Also we have dogs and cats and that severely limited my choices.
Finally as a landlord I have not had to lower my rent and in fact just raised it with a lease renewal last month on one of my places.
