    Want to live near work in UTC area. Currently, renting a 1,400 sqft 2b/b furnished condo for $2,000 a month. Lease is up in April and owner is moving back in.

    considering MLS: 076078457 w/ $80k down
    6595 Lipmann St
    San Diego, CA 92122

    Kids live out of state and not trying to buy or rent to impress. Other buying or renting thoughts/locations to consider?

    I’d keep renting. There are plenty of very nice places to rent in UTC.

    In 92122, bubble denial is still strong and prices have barely moved since 2005. It’s too early to buy there. And it’s overpriced anyway. Come on, 2br for 450 grand?

    If you don’t have to buy, don’t buy. If you have to buy, buy in a distressed area and make a point not to pay more than 2003 price. Try MLS 078069665.
