OMG, so much flame out of my single statement.
Marion, by the time kids get to the middle school, they are sufficiently different. They are influenced by their upbringing and some kinds of influence are better than others. As much as I respect illegal aliens’ willingness to work dead-end jobs for less than minimum wage to support their families, I don’t see them as good influence on their children.
Ok. Esmith, one thing I’ll say in response to what you have posted above is it’s not the kids fault. OK? Mom and Dad may be illegal aliens, but that doesn’t mean the kid is someone that would be a bad influence on your child. The kid cannot help who mom and dad is and deserves a chance to be befriended for who he/she is as a person.
I have nothing against you or anyone wanted the best schools for your kids. I want the same. But, I will say all things being equal, I’m not going to send my kids to schools that have 99% blonde-eyed, blue-eyed kids running around because a culturally diverse environment is best for all kids. You don’t want to raise snobs, or kids who cannot identify with other children of different ethnicities.
But, it sounds like you are saying that you don’t want your kids raised in the slums and you want good schools for them in a safe environment. I understand and agree with that.

December 28, 2007 at 8:08 AM #125630AnonymousGuestBut I think to a point Marion that is what esmith is saying is that Chula Vista is not Diverse by any means. You know my biggest fear is not for me but for my kids when they are old enough to go to school. They will be going to school with kids from Tijuana who are fortunate enough to have relatives that live in Chula Vista so that they can use their address to go to school here. That sucks most of us are paying Mellos and someone elses kid reaps the benefits. And my kids will be learning in Spanish because there will not be any diversity in Chula Vista. This is America but certain people do not treat it like that. Some people feel that we owe them something but we owe nothing to nobody it is not our fault their government cannot get their act together to fix crap so that people have no reason to jump the border and you do not see a bunch of canadians trying to come the US. As soon as the housing market gets better I am out of Chula Vista. I want what is best for my kids and being here with everything that is going on and the things to come I want no part of it and do not want my kids to grow up thinking they are Mexican just because everyone else is. Diversity is gone in Chula Vista and moved up to North County.
