Why is it that reading marion’s posts make me search for a rope and a high beam?
December 27, 2007 at 1:26 PM #125018EugeneParticipantI wonder what esmith considers a racist… I don’t think he realizes all of the assumptions in the comment he posted.
It’s racist and I take serious offense. These kids are human beings, they are no different than your own kids with the exception of being less fortunate.
OMG, so much flame out of my single statement.
Marion, by the time kids get to the middle school, they are sufficiently different. They are influenced by their upbringing and some kinds of influence are better than others. As much as I respect illegal aliens’ willingness to work dead-end jobs for less than minimum wage to support their families, I don’t see them as good influence on their children.
I would be as concerned with my kids going to a school that’ s 50% chinese. Last I checked, there weren’t any chinese ghettos in CA. But I wouldn’t want my kids to grow up in Chula Vista any more than I’d want my kids to grow up among all-white trailer trash in Kearny Mesa.
Hope it helps.

December 27, 2007 at 4:13 PM #125133AnonymousGuestYou know the people that are calling people racist are probably not understanding. What makes a community great is diversity. Without diversity a neighborhood will go down hill real quick. Chula Vista as anyone on here can agree is probably about somewhere in the range of 60% to 70% mexican. With numbers like that prices of homes are going to go down but not because they are Mexican but because they were put in homes that they definitley could not afford and now everyone is feeling the impact.
This a story someone told me about how people from Tijuana were buying homes in Chula Vista then taking equity out and but another and do this over and over again. Then they would take a home equity line of credit on all the homes they owned for say 2 million then say screw paying for the homes and live in Tijuana like Kings. This kinda pissed me off. I have been watching my neighbors very affluent people of all races moving out and people from Campo and Paradise Hills moving in and with them they bring a piece of the Ghetto to my neighborhood. I have to get home early because there is like 10 people living in a 5 Bedroom home and if I do not get home early I can’t park in the street in front of my home. I think people are just really frustrated with everything that is going on and need to just relax. The people we should be blaming is the Mortgage Lenders who screwed us all.

December 27, 2007 at 4:30 PM #125147scaredyclassicParticipanti think the bototm line is nobody wants their kids hanging out with poor people. most people want the richer people –of any color. But not poor people. My wife disagrees. She says there can be all kinds of problems regardless of income level. Yeah, well, play the odds. Percentage-wife, things are going to be a bit crazier andout of control int he poorer area. Things are likely to run smoother where the money is. I’ve always hated living in poorer areas.
Drink Heavily.
