Did you guys this prefab, high-speed constructed hotel in China?

Wow. I’m amazed.

Prefab was supposed to bring affordable houses to the masses. Too bad that prefab is a luxury niche market in America.

Kind of cool. I don’t know if I could live in such crowded environment as that building, but it looks like a very effective way of construction. It does require quite a bit of pre-planning and quality control (all parts have to fit together to be effective). The statement

n promotional literature, Broad boasts that its technology is “the most profound innovation in human history” and that construction on a third of the world’s new buildings will be done this way “in the near future.”

could be quite true. It is applying ‘mass production’ techniques to large building construction – ie. Henry Ford to the automobile..

If you love technology, you can’t help but be amazed and think of the potential.

Ever since I was little, I was thinking of tomorrow land where technology helps solve our problems.

Imagine a beautiful brand prefab condo going for $50,000. That could revolutionize housing worldwide.

This certainly was impressive, if they truly did this without cutting corners and addressed all safety and quality concerns. It is China, you do have to wonder about all of that. Someone in the LAT comment section mentioned this, that China is exactly what the Republicans’ dream world would be. Of course, we certainly can see plenty of down side with that model as well.

Here’s my question. Sure the assembled it really quickly. How long did it take to build everything that that needed to assemble, how long did it take to transport all that, how much did it cost to transport it etc. I have no idea but I imagine all the pieces didnt magically appear on site and ready to assemble.

All issues but there are huge advantages to building the assemblies in a enclosed factory where you can use more automation.
