Thanks for the entertainment. One of the funniest htreads in a long time. Perhaps we should all meet for cocktails in a La Jolla adjacent community to settle this all like men.
Should only take me 10 minutes to get there.
Asian people don’t necessarily care about grades or degrees. Some actually don’t. BUT, most asian people care about money….So there you go…
We’re not all social hermits. Some of us just want to maximize profits….so we can buy bling….
We love Mercedes, we love BMW. Because obviously we love things that make us feel good.
emphasis added.
I know you are jesting here, but I think there are some half truths here. Asians have such low self-esteem from their upbringing that they think by buying material things they can feed their self-esteem. You said it right there. They buy it so they can feel good about themselves. It’s gratifying to them. Their self-esteem is so sagging they have to have the best car, the best purse, the best house, etc, b/c then they can feel good about themselves after all the years of being verbally abused by parents. That’s it in a nutshell.
In any case, it certainly isn’t restricted to Chinese mothers. They should try dealing w/Italian fathers. Years of counseling to try to undo that damage π

Forget that most of us can’t drive worth crap…Forget that most of us doesn’t really know what the “50” in a 750i really means or the “50” in a S550 is. And that we really don’t need a 5.0 liter engine, since we typically drive so goddamn slow on the freeway anyway…
LOL. Too funny. Now there’s a stereotype! π
Nor do we really need such a huge sedan.. Heck, most of us can’t even properly park the car into a normal space (that’s what valet is for)…
LOL!! You crack me up.

January 12, 2011 at 7:16 AM #652029lifeisgoodParticipantFirst off, my wifes parents are from the Phillipines. My wife is first generation American. What I see is that immigrant culture and values soon fade away with time. Example: My wifes parents are the hardest working people I know and have taught their children about striving for excellence in education and life. All three of their children have completely become engulfed in the American way of life. I can only imagine as time goes on their children’s children will lose the way of life and teachings of the original parents that brought their family to this country. Being pushed as a child to live up to unrealistic goals can create resentment and a new idea of how they want to raise their children. I would like to see how the future Chinese children are brought up. Your thoughts.
