I was just saying that in real life people do whatever they want often times overlooking hard objective data in favor of subjective opinions.
I do think that you make a great point about creativity and people skills in management.
In real life, what is the ratio of managers to employees? Numerically, do all creative people have a chance to become well-paid managers?
IMHO, the best education is like good insurance. Education puts a floor on your earning potentials.

January 11, 2011 at 10:04 AM #651253AKParticipantThese days I’d say networking and people skills are key to getting even the first job out of college … not to mention prestigious internships.
Test scores, GPA, education, etc., give you a better chance of establishing those essential connections and recommendations. But they’re not enough in and of themselves.

Agree with you on this, but the fact is the DON’T have the people skills because of the focus of their education.[/quote]
I know plenty asians who’re both techniquely creative and great team leaders and who have no chance in advancement. And then I think about the management I know who’re exclusively white and European/American and imagine putting them next to those wonderful attributes you mentioned they all supposedly have because they were not damaged by their non-asian parents. I can only shake my head.
