First, it doesn’t matter who you vote for in California. The Democrat candidate will take California. McCain is toast because the conservative base will not vote for him and he can’t win with disillusioned Dems who didn’t get their way or with moderates. He needs the base and won’t get their vote. The next Prez is a Democrat.
