ParticipantI’ll vote for any candidate who puts their constituents needs before Israel’s.
I only know of one candidate that meets that criteria: Gary Johnson

Where was it that I heard that to the Israelis listening to the foreign policy debate, it seemed like Obama and Romney were running for Prime Minister of Israel?

Participant
True, rbjack.
There is no evidence that shows progressive tax rates are detrimental to an economy. Our most prosperous times have coincided with the steepest progression.
I guess this is the source of that Clinton’s employment data under Dem vs GOP.
Hate to admit it, but it makes a lot of sense. If my income over $250k is taxed at 50% instead of 30%, I’m penalized for saving that money or using that money for personal use. Instead, I’m given essentially a 50% off coupon to buy anything and everything that can be office related so I can expense out those purchases to bring my tax base down to $250k. More money is pumped back into the economy this way. Which then trickles down through the economy.
Whereas if that over 250k tax rate is treated exactly the same as those less than $250k, I might just put off those office purchases and save and bank that cash instead. The money is removed from the economy.
I’m sure Romney fully understands this too. Although I doubt the GOP base really comprehends this.

ParticipantRazor close Presidential election?

In listening to the news shows this last weekend, the conservatives see Romney pulling it off and the libs, Obama.
Polls show a close race. And, some favor each. Aside from who you voted for, who do you think will actually win.
I think Obama will skate through and win it.

ParticipantObama, by a very narrow margin.

second that.
Bibi this Bibi that in one of the debates (VP ones I think) was sickening to watch.
Don’t their constituents have any self-respect anymore?
If these guys are so obsessed with Bibi and his “line” why don’t they go help him over there instead of wasting time in office here?November 5, 2012 at 3:08 PM #753773ocrenter

And the Israel lobby is for better or for worse one of the more powerful forces around.

ParticipantErrr, ok. What magical plan has Romney or Ryan come up with? I haven’t seen squat and frankly Obama’s not out there making condescending statements about the poor in our society.
It’s odd, I went to law school and most of my friends have JDs, MDs, and MBAs and none of us are whining as much as you are about having to pay taxes. Do you ever travel internationally and think what other people are paying in taxes?
It’s not called THEFT (no matter how much you want to unintelligibly scream on the internet) to pay taxes unless you think the US Government was stealing from us from 1932 to 1982 (all rates 50% or higher for the highest bracket).
You play out all the code words for someone uninterested in a real debate: THEFT, “lazy slobs”, criminals, corrupt, socialism (do you even know what that means?). Frankly, go join a militia, sounds like you’d be happier then.

Actually they are not that a powerful lobby. This is why I just don’t get the pandering part. AARP, NRA, major pharma and the street special interests beat them by miles in terms of influence but I don’t see politicians on either side sucking up so shamelessly to these groups in public.

ParticipantEnjoy the day piggs. Finally this horse race is over…one way or the other.
Now we can get back to discussing wine, women, and maybe once in a while housing.
