Presidential ads heat up –
http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-pn-romney-obama-jeep-ads-20121029,0,7378026.story
“The Romney ad’s claim about Chrysler building Jeeps in China is, again, literally true. But it leaves out the fact that this is unrelated to American jobs and that the company has also increased production in the U.S. Chrysler released a statement saying it had “no intention” of shifting production out of the U.S. to China.
The Obama ad counters with another newspaper headline, from The Blade of Toledo, Ohio: “Jeep Expansion to add 1,100 jobs.”
The kicker to the Obama spot is: “Mitt Romney on Ohio jobs. Wrong then. Dishonest now.” Cut into the middle of that hit is a brief clip of a smiling Romney saying “Let Detroit go bankrupt.””
Hard to believe we’re gonna vote one of these guys into the office of president for 4 years. Not sure if that says something negative about the candidates, about humans in general, or all the above….
And, depending upon which polls you follow/believe, its a dead heat, Romney’s ahead, or Obama has the electoral votes to win. Could be a close one.

Now, which proposition sides are carpet bombing us with expensive political ads? Unless that’s what you want vote the opposite.
No – prop 30.
Yes- prop 32.
Yes- prop 37.
No – prop 38.Insurance, three strikes, two year budget cycle, devil is in the details.
Prop 34 – End Death penalty – Yes. Cities like LA can’t repair sidewalks, but we trust them to convict and sentence people to death…
Prop 39 – Maybe Yes. Don’t like the green energy funding, which is why I suspect, one billionaire hedge fund guy is funding nearly all of the $30 million in favor. That’s the cynic in me.

I feel carpet bombed from both sides on 30/32. In fact, I think I’ve heard more ads from “No on 30/Yes on 32” than any other source.I tend to look at which props are being financed almost solely by huge corporate interests and vote against them. That and when in doubt, vote No.

+1
We’ve heard far more “Yes on 32” ads than ads for the opposition. I also tend to vote against anything funded by large corporate interests…and very wealthy individuals (like Charles Munger Jr. financing Prop 32/opposing Prop 30). As a single individual, he’s spent more than half of what the unions (representing millions of working people) have spent on the other side of these issues. And he’s trying to make the process even more lopsided as a result of his actions!
Just to be clear, I have no problem with getting ALL money out of politics, but it has to be equal. If labor is shut out completely, then capital must be shut out entirely. No corporate contributions, and more importantly, no INDIVIDUAL contributions or “favors” of any kind should be allowed. No promises of political/business connections, no promises of jobs or other types of income enhancements, no private or public funding of candidates or propositions, nor other favors to be offered now or in the future. We need fair and honest campaign reform, and Prop 32 is as far from honest as one can get.

Unfortunately due to Citizens United, it’s pretty much impossible to control it at the state level. Money is now considered free speech, Corporations are People, my friend. California’s hands are probably tied unless the SOCUS revisits Citizens United.October 31, 2012 at 3:24 PM #753572CA renterParticipantTrue. 🙁

I don’t think we could have picked candidates with a funnier set of initials.
November 3, 2012 at 10:28 AM #753672ctr70ParticipantVoting for Romney/Ryan b/c Obama’s only plan for ANYTHING is taxing the rich more. He has no other freaking plan. All he can do is attack Mitt Romney’s financial success & plans on Medicare. And because most of the American public is dumb as sh*t, full of shitty TV shows and fast food, and uninformed, they buy that propaganda middle class sh*t Obama puts out.
Romney also had the only intelligent thing I’ve heard yet on housing to date, that was just let the foreclosures rip naturally and let the market correct itself. Instead of Obama’s socialist wealth redistribution loan mods and principle reductions & letting people squat for 5 years and not make a payment. And I voted for Obama in 2008.
Also voting NO on prop 30 b/c it’s just a tax increase on people making >$250k AGI. Another attack on the financially successful, industrious, intelligent people of our society to pay the bills for all the other lazy slobs in this state.
If prop 30 passes state income taxes for those making over $250k AGI will go to 10.3%!!! And if Obama is re-elected he is going to raise the federal income tax for those >$250k to 40%! So if you live in CA and net over $250k you will pay 50% of your hard earned income in taxes!!! That is called THEFT, stealing from those who work hard in our society. Those who spent years sacrificing and taking risks others didn’t to build businesses, go to medical school, go to law school, pull all nighters & work our butts off just so we can pay the bills of the lazy slobs in this country. The only thing that has EVER been fair was the flat tax idea by Steve Forbes. If prop 30 passes I’m out of CA moving my business to WA state where there is no state tax. Fu*k the weather in CA…if I can get out of 10.3% state income tax I can take about 5 vacations to the tropics in winter instead of giving my money to the state of CA to be squandered by the criminals in the democratic state legislature & go to paying the criminally outlandish state pensions to the corrupt state unions and retirees.
November 3, 2012 at 10:39 AM #753674AecetiaParticipantI am just wondering who he is voting for?
“The listing, ‘Adolf Hitler, John…666 Heltz…la,’ puts his supposed residence in Los Angeles. It was part of a batch of roughly 200 voter registrations that election officials say were flagged as possibly fraudulent, forged, or duplicated by the group that collected them, FieldWorks, a private Washington, D.C. based firm.”November 3, 2012 at 11:12 AM #753678scaredyclassicParticipantas vermin supreme commands us:

So everyone who makes under $250K is a lazy slob? The people who work 2-3 jobs doing labor that most of those earning $250K+ could never do are lazy slobs????
And “capitalists” who speculate on commodities, stocks, bonds, etc., and house flippers, etc. are “hard workers”???
Please tell me you’re not one of those people who voted for/supports Prop 13, then votes for all kinds of bond measures (without increasing revenue to pay them off!), and then tries to blame the resulting economic mess on union workers and their pensions.
November 3, 2012 at 4:49 PM #753698CA renterParticipantAlso, if you’re thinking about moving because you don’t like California’s taxes, make sure you know how the other states are making up for the loss of revenue from income taxes (or whatever taxes you don’t like).
Like the B&O tax in WA:
http://dor.wa.gov/content/FindTaxesAndRates/BAndOTax/
And their sales tax rates are generally higher than ours:
http://dor.wa.gov/Docs/forms/ExcsTx/LocSalUseTx/LocalSlsUseFlyer_12_Q4_alpha.pdf
—————Again, if we eliminated Prop 13, or at least eliminated it for everything other than a single primary residence, there would probably be no “economic crisis” in California.
November 3, 2012 at 6:15 PM #753699AnonymousGuestHigher tax rate on over 250k typically end up stimulating more spending (spending that qualify for business expense deduction of course)
