I wish they would speed the 5 expansion process/ toss dollars at it.. The 15 expansion has resulted in lightened traffic, the 5 needs the same expansion just as bad.
Just raise the tax on gas. That lightens traffic right there, without any environmental degredation! Simple fix and no multi-billion dollar expenditures need be made.
On another note, hybrids are a total red herring. So instead of dependence on foreign oil, you are toting around hundreds of pounds of lead acid batteries (charged by mostly coal fired power plants), how is that more environmentally friendly? The only real solution is less driving, but somehow no one ever wants to do that.

If car batteries could be charged to a useful level on land based solar panels and swapped out as needed, maybe daily, that really would be something. It seems like even if it becomes possible the charging system would cost as much or more than the car. If it could charge car batteries and run a house or two that would be better.
