You would be surprised. I’m working on mobile payments right now.
However I have this thing going on.. I never leave home without a wallet without a $20 bill in it.
I don’t normally use cash… But the weekdays my wallet is literally empty, I have a bad day with my stock portfolio. Lol…June 19, 2012 at 11:24 AM #746085Diego Mamani
ParticipantI always used to carry a wallet, but when traveling to southern Europe or Latin America, I didn’t. I always thought that a wallet is a great convenience for pick pockets! Instead, I distribute cash and credit cards (the minimum necessary) in four different pockets, and I’m done with it, no wallet needed.
For the last couple of years, however, I no longer carry a wallet here at home and I don’t miss it at all! I carry my DL, a few credit/debit/ATM cards and occasionally a little cash ($0-$20) in my pants’ left rear pocket. On the right rear pocket I carry a (dumb) cell phone, a comb and a handkerchief (I’m old school).
I really, really, love being wallet-free!

ParticipantDo you like skinny wallets that are supposed to be good for your spine? These ones crinkle:
Do you fear the RFID chip ie Mark of the Beast?
Many credit cards seem to be increasingly infected with them. You can buy leather wrapped tinfoil, not for your head but for your wallet.
NOTE: Not a vendor, just an indecisive customer.

As far as Internet banking, I see it more of a replacement for banking by mail, or banking by ATM, than a replacement for cash. And paying by cell phone is just silly, since it requires the phone to be charged and turned on to be able to make a payment. Far better to have a contact-less card, and have the card account be CONTROLLED by an app on the phone.“That will be twelve sixty-five.”
“Ummmm …. ummm … do you have an outlet?”
“NEXT CUSTOMER!”[/quote]Ummm…
*Current (today)….
Step 1. Swipe card…
Step 2. Ask cardholder to sign and click “charge”
Step 3. Email receipt confirmation upon confirmation. Verify email
*Near future:Just one word for media center integration and mobile payments….NFC…
*And while we’re on the same subject. Your phone can replace your car keys very soon too.

Same here. My DL, two credit cards, some cash (usually $20-$100) in my left front pocket, phone (smart) in my right front pocket. It’s all I need. And I’m not sitting on anything.

ParticipantWhen I visit areas where I feel uncomfortable, I will take just a cc, dl, and some cash in a business card holder in my sock.
But I will still carry a dummy wallet with nothing but a few $1 bills in it…that way if a thief holds me up, I’ll throw him the dummy wallet and he can be on his way happy in the illusion that he got everything I own…
I’ve done this in Rome, Paris, SF, NYC…
