Apparently even flu might not even agree with whatever it was that he said.
September 22, 2012 at 2:52 PM #751722AecetiaParticipant

Fact-checking Romney’s 47% claim
How many Americans really pay no federal income taxes?http://money.cnn.com/video/news/2012/09/18/n-romney-tax-claim.cnnmoney%5B/quote%5D
So basically, Romney was right.
Yes.
September 22, 2012 at 3:14 PM #751723scaredyclassicParticipantif romney had said, 47% of americans pay no income tax, and left it at that, it wouldn’t be obnoxious. if he argued for policies to make more americansearn enough to pay taxes, it might even be mildly inspiring…
When romney says 47% of americans see themselves as victims just looking for a handout, then he qualifies as douchiest politican of the last 100 years. except for hitler.
i figured we were going to get to hitler eventually so i thought i’d just cut to the chase.
it is pretty hilarious that he omitted his charitable deductions to keep his tax rate above 13%. I mean, jeepers, he pays so little tax himself that he has to basically forego deductions to pay what he beleives will look like a non-repulsive tax rate. and then he has the gall to call half the rest of the nation a bunch of freeloading dirtbags who have no interest in helping themselves.
sheesh! high-larious!!!
September 22, 2012 at 3:15 PM #751725scaredyclassicParticipantmy mom always told me to be grateful that i was paying some tax, it meant i was earning a living…
September 22, 2012 at 3:20 PM #751726AecetiaParticipantYour mom sounds very responsible and reasonable.

yeah?
Well your momma so….
Wait..
What were we talking about?September 22, 2012 at 4:05 PM #751730flyerParticipantIf they are going to quote controversial percentages, IMHO politicians would probably be better off launching a verbal battle about why only 5% or less of the US population has $1M+ in assets (excluding real estate). I know I’ve mentioned this before, and it still astounds me.
A number like this definitely does not bode well for the future of this country–unless, of course, we end up in a a society that is primarily supported by the government. If, or until then–it’s a real concern going forward as to how the majority of people plan to support themselves long-term–especially in retirement.
September 22, 2012 at 5:17 PM #751736AecetiaParticipantYou are 100% right, it does not bode well for the country.
September 22, 2012 at 6:45 PM #751738scaredyclassicParticipantit depends how you define the “country”. really, it should just include the superwealthy as countrymen. the country is going to be in excellent shape
September 22, 2012 at 7:16 PM #751742flyerParticipantYou are right, squat.
I should have said the net worth stats don’t look very encouraging for the general populace of our country–going forward.
Hopefully things will get better. Only time will tell.

Actually, what I was gonna say I felt was slightly off topic…Because I do find Mr. Romney’s statement outlandish, disgusting, and disingenious..
BUT, I had a bad day, something I encountered at an asian optometry in a unnamed supermarket chain just infuriated this morning and wanted to vent. And decided not to…It had to deal with some unnamed social entitlement program, and I couldn’t help think about the entire “government moochers” name. But then again, it’s the 1% of the abusers that screw it up for the remaining 99% of the people that need it…So I’ll refrain.

I understand. My comment was lame. Sorry.

Oh, I don’t mind at all. Regardless of what an idiot I think Romney is or idiot I think Obama is… I don’ think anyone from either side can really deny the fact that “we” are in deep shit.
CA budget crisis is frickin ridiculous. Our nation’s financial health is growing even worse by the day…And yet, everyone still expects everyone else to pay their fair share..Raise taxes? WTF? How about reduce spending….
I’m glad folks find it entertaining to be be debating around party lines while the rest of the country is going down in flames…But maybe that’s the point. Keep voters polarized on side shows to avoid solving real obvious problems…Ah, no worries..We have the larget military. We can use that when we can no longer afford to pay our creditors back… Hope the bullets are still made in the usa and we haven’t started importing them too..
That said, I’ve given up caring at the macro level… I’m saving my own ass as well as my family…Since everyone else is doing the same…. -
