What I for the life of me can’t believe is that many Republicans, who lambasted and continue to lambast Bill Clinton for Monica Lewinsky will turn a blind eye to John McCain’s past.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1024927/The-wife-John-McCain-callously-left-behind.html
His first wife, Carol, became horribly disfigured while he was prisoner of war, and he divorced her a few years thereafter. She claims the divorce had nothing to do with her looks, but I don’t think the reason she gives is any better:
‘My accident is well recorded. I had 23 operations, I am five inches shorter than I used to be and I was in hospital for six months. It was just awful, but it wasn’t the reason for my divorce.
‘My marriage ended because John McCain didn’t want to be 40, he wanted to be 25. You know that happens…it just does.’
‘John started carousing and running around with women,’ said Robert Timberg.
In 1979 – while still married to Carol – he met Cindy at a cocktail party in Hawaii. Over the next six months he pursued her, flying around the country to see her. Then he began to push to end his marriage.
Let’s see, Bill and Hillary are still together…maybe they have an open marriage, who knows and who cares. It is their business.
But those who have blasted them for not having a typical, Christian, monogamous marriage should step right up and do the same thing to McCain for running around while still married!
Otherwise, I brand them official hypocrites!

August 2, 2008 at 2:34 PM #251029VeritasParticipantCharacter does count. It is what did Kerry in:
“But Ross Perot, who paid her medical bills all those years ago, now believes that both Carol McCain and the American people have been taken in by a man who is unusually slick and cruel – even by the standards of modern politics.‘McCain is the classic opportunist. He’s always reaching for attention and glory,’ he said.‘After he came home, Carol walked with a limp. So he threw her over for a poster girl with big money from Arizona. And the rest is history.’”
I have always thought McCain should change his party and come out of the political closet. He acts like a democrat.
