TheBreeze, there is a blog I have read by the same name. Is that you? If so, I think nearly your entire existence has been on govt projects. Obama is perfect for you – you get paid by tax dollars, either from the govt directly, or by a govt contractor.

October 17, 2008 at 10:54 AM #288688afx114ParticipantMcCain and his supporters like to talk so much about “redistributing the wealth” so I’d like to know what he/they have to say about this graph:
The ratio of average CEO pay (now $11.8 million) to worker pay (now $27,460) spiked up from 301-to-1 in 2003 to 431-to-1 in 2004.
If the minimum wage had risen as fast as CEO pay since 1990, the lowest paid workers in the US would be earning $23.03 an hour today, not $5.15 an hour.
If that’s not redistribution of wealth, I don’t know what is. Note that this graph only goes to 2005. I’d love to see the numbers for 2006-2007.

October 17, 2008 at 10:56 AM #288693TheBreezeParticipant
If Joe the Plumber is making over $250k (gross or net doesn’t matter) then he is quite well off, I don’t consider that middle class AT ALL by any definition. Since when did the middle class earn over 1/4 million dollars a year?
Here’s an update on ‘Joe’ the plumber:
His current income is $40K per year. He would actually pay less taxes under Obama’s plan than under McCain’s. The business he wants to buy only grosses $100K, so even if he did buy the business, he would still pay less under Obama’s plan than under McCain’s
Plus, he may or may not be related to Charles Keating, he of the Keating Five scandal.

McCain should have done a little more vetting before he decided to make Joe famous. Basically everything that McCain railed on in his debate last night vis-a-vis ‘Joe’ is wrong and Joe will be better off under an Obama administration.
How could anyone vote for McCain? The guy just exudes incompetence.
