Some trivia:
The diamond engagement ring “tradition” really isn’t that old. And of course if was created by corporate marketing.
If you are over 40 or so, there’s a good chance your grandmother did not get one because she didn’t know she was supposed to want one.

It’s pretty well known that DeBeers came up with the diamond engagement ring marketing tool – then later came up with the idea that it should be several months salary!!!! Diamonds are probably the most manipulated market out there. DeBeers holds back diamond supply to raise the price.

Dave, what are you expecting from this thread?
Clearly you don’t know your target audience.
I’m expecting answers of all kinds, which is exactly what I’m getting. You’re assuming that I’m looking for some particular set of answers when you suggest that I “don’t know my target audience.” All I did was ask a couple of questions. That you read something into this that isn’t there says more about you than it does about me.
Where are you getting answers of all kinds? Did I miss a post where there was a married woman who said she wouldn’t have married her husband without an E ring? Was there a single woman who said she wouldn’t marry a guy without an E ring? These were the questions you asked.
