GuestIsn’t it dangerous to bike with all the SUVs zooming by on the wide Temecula streets?
Your wife actually allows you to ride?

ParticipantI’ve actually been considering this. My wife and I take walks now, but used to bike in norcal in a city that was very flat. The hills around here have kept us from biking….I figure if I could get a motorized bike we could pedal on the flat stretches and kick in the motor for uphill…I think that would be fun!
When we first moved to SM I bought an old 1960s green Schwinn at a garage sale with the intent of getting wifey and I back into biking. The hills killed that idea. We had a garage sale one day and at the back of the garage was that old green Schwinn. A guy in the driveway spotted it and offered me an enormous sum for it. Off it went in the back of his truck. Odd the way life works out sometimes.

ParticipantMy friends consider me crazy as my car is worth $2K and my new bike was $4K. I love riding on hills…

Try a rental. You will be amused. It’s like a magic carpet

GuestI watched the Tour de France from Utrecht.
It’s so nice that everyone in Holland rides bicycles. With batteries improvements, electric bicycles just make sense.

Participanti have been carfree for a couple months now …. temeculas actually has some nice side routes, paths, dirt roads here and there.
google maps suggestions for bikes do not work. there s fencing in some spots.
ebiking could change retirement budget. frees up about 700/month.

ParticipantYou inspired me to be more green. After I finish with helping with a bunch of housing tasks, I figured out the next project I want to do to my old Miata that rarely gets driveN now….
Electric Miata.
The conversions is only $20k
9.25 sec 1/4mile runs is just insane…
autocross vehicle might be good too
I don’t think I can add more power using ICB engines except a V8 which would cost more.

ParticipantI didn’t like the Uber Jump electric bike even though i like the e scooters.
It is heavy to lift up curbs and doesn’t feel as natural as a regular bike.

ParticipantFlu: Maybe I’m just old. Drag races *need* to be loud. Quiet electric, albeit fast, just doesn’t do it for me. Part of the full tactile experience.
