I’ve had lots of dental implants and they all had to be removed and replaced after about 10 years. When an implant breaks it hurts – alot.
Having dental implants can cause autoimmune diseases to surface. Research it.
At least one scam dentist I know of who lost his license in the U.S. (san diego area) and has an unbelievable # of lawsuits settled and pending was found practicing in TJ.
That being said – I love Mexico and the people there.
I would take the previous advise of using the Asian dentists in Pasadena should you decide to go this route.
If I had to do it again I would never have had dental implants.July 14, 2011 at 12:41 AM #710809disimilar1ParticipantI’ve had lots of dental implants and they all had to be removed and replaced after about 10 years. When an implant breaks it hurts – alot.

I just found that Aetna provides coverage in Mexico. I’ve never had to do an implant, but I’m sure the costs are lower.
I’m thinking about giving a Mexican dentist a try, just for the experience.

If you got implants from a TJ dentist you wouldnt need insurance. We would all buy tickets to watch. It could be a profitable endeavor just for the experience. For those that couldnt make it we could make a DVD. I’m sure we could get $19.95 a pop as long as the sound quality of your screaming was good.

I’d be worried about not waking up.
February 14, 2012 at 11:16 PM #738043KIBUParticipantIt’s not about what nationality your dentist is but it is very much about board regulations, standard of practice, education and training, all of which, I am afraid in Mexico it would be way behind.

He might die from the implants but at least he would look “thin” on the gurney on the way out.
February 15, 2012 at 8:19 AM #738051scaredyclassicParticipantNot to add to Mexico bashing, but an acquaintance was Very recently beaten and almost killed and robbed in a luxury rental in a “good” area of Mexico. Couldve happened anywhere of course, but….
February 15, 2012 at 12:05 PM #738073briansd1GuestNow with the facts.
Mexico is not bad. It’s a middle income country that only appears bad in contrast to the United States.
I have no experience in Mexico, but I’ve had my teeth bleached in Thailand, at a fraction of the cost of America. My friend got liposuction there — in-office visit with the best service.
A friend got laser dermabrasion and freckles removed in Thailand (good idea because it prevents accumulation of melanin and age-spots in old age) in Thailand. It looked great. Another friend got the same service in America but it looked worse and the burn marks took longer to heal.
Mexico is not Thailand, but economic development wise, they are about on the same level, perhaps with Mexico being more advanced.
In all fairness, I think that Mexico medical services can be fantastic. You just need to know where to go.
February 15, 2012 at 1:23 PM #738081sdrealtorParticipantOne of my best friends is an oral surgeon in SD. He has told me untold horror stories of things done by good dentists in Mexico that he has had to fix. Please let us know when you go. My camcorder is ready.
