Al Sharpton
Jesse Jackson
BILL CLINTON
These guys don’t have a daily show with million of listeners.
Let’s go to what you ORIGINALLY said:
ucodegen, I don’t see an equivalent to Rush on the left — someone who despite his own personal failings still commands a huge fanatical audience.
some may discount the right, but they control 90% of talk in this country. Not a single liberal can be found in American radio/TV talk in top 10.So much for the Elite liberal media. Nobody watches network TV news, biased heavily to left but still fairly tame, they don’t want any more controversy.
And the so-called liberal NYT. They reported (LIED) WMD propaganda in Iraq daily for weeks before Iraq War funding vote. Must have made liberals real happy.
The right is the powerhouse now. There may be some liberal shows out there on public radio, etc but they obviously have no suitable audience for advertisers. Money talks and liberals walk!
Top programs (audience size)
The Rush Limbaugh Show – 15+ million.
The Sean Hannity Show – 14+ million.
Glenn Beck Program – 9+ million.
The Savage Nation – 9+ million.
The Dr. Laura Program – 9+ million
The Laura Ingraham Show – 6.25 million
The Mark Levin Show – 6.25 millionOctober 7, 2009 at 11:06 PM #465661equalizerParticipant

The Mark Levin Show – 6.25 millionOctober 8, 2009 at 7:01 AM #465527Allan from FallbrookParticipantEqualizer: David Brooks of the NYT wrote a good article discussing what he considers the true influence of Rush, Beck, etc on the American people.
On balance, I agreed with most of the article. Unfortunately, I don’t think they’re quite as “out of the mainstream” as Brooks alleges, but I believe that’s largely due to Brooks’ thinly masked disdain for their shrillness and (perceived) vulgarity.
Article is here: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/02/opinion/02brooks.html?_r=2&em
On a side note: I cannot believe Savage still has a show. Speaking of vulgar, that man is a disgrace.

October 8, 2009 at 9:52 AM #465612briansd1GuestI also read the David Brooks piece.
Brooks makes it sound like Republican politicians are “victims” of the talk jocks (as well as the Liberal media). Poor Republicans, they can’t win.
BTW, I don’t think that that MSM is liberal. It’s mainstream, hence the name.
