ParticipantIt is getting tougher and tougher to be a fence top tap dancing, establishment demagogue….but the masses have grown so accustomed to demagoguery that even during a backlash it doesn’t occur to the defectors to look for any other type.

Participant

The perils of false equivalencies. Gandalf, who is the voice of these so-called “hippies” that have the command of the MSM, as the O’donnell’s and Palin’s, do? What are their platforms?
I was going to say the same thing.
O’Donnell and Palin are tools of the selfish and the self-serving in the establishment. The hippies, on the hand, were threats to the establishment. Big difference, in my view.
Sadly, Gandalf is parroting similar talking points as right wing pundits. That their is a radical left movement amongst democrats taking over the government. The left was co-opted by corporate america four decades ago. The fact that these imaginary radicals get talked about as a “threat” so frequently is hilarious.
Most hippies are quite and watching the collapse of our social and economic systems easily predicted decades ago. The corporate latte drinking SF liberals love the status quo, though, if they mention throwing a few crumbs down the ladder or a minor increase in taxes, it is the equivalent of workers taking over a factory by force or *”hitler invading poland” to right wing radio
*Actual quote about a tax increase

Thanks to both of you.
That comment bothered me too. Me thinks someone just outted himslef for how extremely pro-establishment he is. There seem to be a couple of anachronistic types here who think that if we just get to some semblance of what the old establishment was, we will be just fine.October 21, 2010 at 9:20 AM #621125NotCranky
