I also have a hunch that the people opposing the tyranny of soda tax fully support the tyrrany against other things — drinking a cold one on the beach, public display of boobs, enjoying a spliff, taking your own life. Just a hunch.
I’m one data point against your argument. I’m against the tyranny of soda tax, the tyranny of drinking a cold one at the beach, the tyranny against public display of anything, etc.July 26, 2009 at 12:09 PM #437148anParticipant
I also have a hunch that the people opposing the tyranny of soda tax fully support the tyrrany against other things — drinking a cold one on the beach, public display of boobs, enjoying a spliff, taking your own life. Afx: I’d hazard a guess that you’re right about this. The saddest part of all this is that we’re watching a complete ideological polarization on these issues, when we need to objectively focus on root causes and true costs.

Absolutely! How many of you voted FOR the beach booze ban? Applauded the ban on smoking in city parks and beaches? Cheered when taxes on alcohol and tobacco were increased…again and again?
You might all want to familiarize yourselves with the poem “First They Came”. It is VERY relevant. You’ve shown the politicians again and again that they can take away the rights of others and you won’t make a peep. It’s only a matter of time until they take something away that YOU care about but by then it will be too late to do anything about it.
