It’s kind of sad that success of foreign policy is measured by number of people killed, while China is buying goodwill and building and funding schools in Africa.
Agreed! Bush and Obama are equally deplorable!
October 31, 2011 at 11:57 AM #731709markmax33GuestBush and Obama are the same. The both are expanding our debt exponentially through social programs and wars. There’s only one real solution…
Ron Paul 2012!
October 31, 2011 at 12:25 PM #731725briansd1Guest
Open Range’s loan was originally granted by the Bush administration. In 2008, the USDA’s administrator of Rural Utilities Services grants, Bush appointee James Andrews, touted Open Range’s unique plan to get broadband to neglected areas by using a network of satellites owned by a company called Globalstar.

My point is that economies of scale are much greater in the cities.
From a capitalistic economic standpoint, providing service to urban areas should be cheaper than providing services to rural areas.
As part of the 80% living in an urban area, living in an urban core greater than 200,000 inhabitants, I’m sick of subsidizing the services in rural area.
Why should cell phone service in rural Kansas be the same cost as in San Diego when a cell tower serves so many fewer residents?
City residents are being ripped-off and we are sick of it.
LMFAO! This has got to be one of the most retarded posts ever on this board. Rick Perry has been exuding idiocy and ineptitude in every debate he’s been in. Mitt Romney (Obamacare architect) has taken Perry to the woodshed in every debate.
If you really believe that the country is going to vote for another idiot from Texas you should load up on Perry at Intrade.com. They’re only giving him a 14% chance.
A fool and his money are soon parted.
Domo: You took what I said completely out of context. I was in no way pushing Perry. In fact, that guy scares the ever lovin’ shit outta me.
Read the post in context, as well as the posts that preceded it and see where I’m actually coming from, before making the “retarded” remark.
In other words, make sure you know what you’re talking about before you shoot your mouth off. Now, THAT’s retarded.
Have a nice day.

It’s looking like Romney will get the nomination. It’s now down to him and Cain, and even “tax-the-poor” Republicans know that “999” and Cain’s other gimmicks would be a complete fiasco. If Romney is the nominee, we will see unprecedented levels of bizarre verbal gymnastics as Fox, Limbaugh, and company attempt to rationalize their support for a global-warming acknowledging Harvard lawyer who implemented a popular government healthcare system but now wants to completely dismantle a similar system because it benefits the entire nation.
They’re gonna have to rewrite history quick. Good thing they have plenty of practice!

Pri: Great quote. Always nice to see Eric Blair make an appearance.
I think Romney is the obvious choice, which has the added benefit of “pushing back” on the more reactionary elements within the GOP, especially the “Tea-vangelicals” and the Limbaugh/Hannity/Hezbollah wing.
The only way to effect serious change in America right now is to tack back to center and that just ain’t happening with the group of dimwits running the GOP right now.
October 31, 2011 at 1:20 PM #731747urbanrealtorParticipantGood post.
John Stewart recently had a lot to say about how reactionary the GOP has gotten.
I believe Larry Wilmore actually referred to Reagan as a Homo-loving Hollywood type or something. It astounds me that the GOP choice is no-experience Cain, no-feasible-solutions Paul (though I truly respect his consistency), for-sale Perry, and change-my-view-with-each-poll Romney.
Dude.
That is a fucking grim field. As a liberal, I honestly find myself yearning for the geriatrically sarcastic days of Bob Dole.

Dan: Interestingly, the last time I voted GOP was 1996, during the Dole campaign for Prez.
I know that there is a huge element within the GOP that is getting sick and friggin’ tired of the nihilistic stance of the more reactionary subset (and it is a subset).
As far as Saint Ronald goes: Most of these assholes that run around touting his conservatism haven’t got a clue (or are ignoring) his ACTUAL record. I’ve had a couple of dustups with these born-again John Bircher GOP types and it’s amazing how utterly detached from objective reality they are.
Hence, Cain and Perry.
October 31, 2011 at 9:45 PM #731811briansd1GuestNot bad for 50yo. I’m pretty happy that our president is fit and healthy.
20/20 uncorrected vision.
He seems to be intellectually and physically gifted.
Specifically, the report said Obama, who stands 6 feet 1 inch tall, “stays at a healthy weight” at 181.3 pounds. His blood pressure measured normal at 107/71 mm Hg and his heart rate was measured at 67 beats per minute.

I do think that if Hillary ran she would beat everyone in the field including Obama…
The debate I would pay to read about would be Brian and his passion for Obama and the young rookie upstart Markmax and his blind faith for Ron Paul.
Let the games begin!

Obama should take up smoking Marlboro Reds. Those “Cowboy killers” will increase his stature considerably, especially amongst potential GOP voters looking to switch.
He should also start swigging from a bottle of JD while Kid Rock blares in the background. I bet that candy-ass Cantor and that country club reject Boehner would be shaking in their Cole Haans.

Hillary is bad-ass. I mean it. I’d take that chick into a gunfight with me. I personally know plenty of Dems that are regretting Obama mightily right now, and wishing that Hillary had carried the nomination.
I’d give Markmax the edge over Brian, and simply because he does try to respond using facts. I question quite a few of those facts, but at least its an honest attempt.
Plus, I like Ron Paul. That comment about the TSA “sexually groping” people during the debate was effin’ priceless! Where the hell did THAT come from? That was like flashing back to the Dr. Demento Show!
Yeah, Hillary is bad-ass, and I’d be happy with her. And maybe Hillary would have been better on the policies.
I like Obama because, personality wise, he enbodies my generation and my ideals better. Some people like Reagan or Sarah Palin, or Haley Barbour for the same reason.
Plus I like Obama simply for the fact that he’s too perfect and riles up so many of his opponents who are eager to find faults but can’t find any.
