Sorry Brian, not going to get into a flamewar with you about this issue. Here is what Rich said about politics and I like the way he runs this forum:
“Do not try to turn any discussion, even if already political in nature, into a left-vs-right slapfest…. Come to think of it, don’t even bother starting such a discussion.”V
Veritas: That’s the right response, especially given Rich’s admonitions about this. I’d also opine that, given the shit this country is in right now, engaging in the “blame game” on either side is pointless. To even attempt to argue that either the Dems or Repubs are blameless in this Godawful mess is patently absurd. We’re seeing the effects of policies from both sides of the aisle that have been decades in the making and we’re now (as a country) reaping as we sowed.
Watching career politicians from both parties bloviating about Weiner’s weiner while the country is coming apart at the seams truly illustrates how screwed we are.

June 13, 2011 at 11:51 PM #703141AecetiaParticipantI agree, Allan, we are looking at some tough times ahead. Weiner is just a distraction from all the more important issues the country is dealing with.
I absolutely agree that both parties are to blame.
But there’s such thing as proportional liability, and I contend that Republicans are more at fault.
This very stupid thread is actually a good a reflection upon the Obama haters rather than an objective discussion of policy.
In light of all the irrational Obama hatred out there, I’m adopting the view of of politics as sports and entertainment. Obama is my team, and when people blame him irrationally for things that he has no control over, I feel that I need to respond, to provide balance.
It’s obvious that no matter what Obama does, some people will always be critical. It’s kinda fun to see them all riled-up and huffing and puffing red.
