Teachers are not extremely well paid here – worse than in the Northeast (NY, CT), for example.
Nice try at the propaganda Eug..
My niece works as a first grade teacher in the Inland Empire. She makes about $98k/year for working 9 months.
I no longer believe the underpaid teacher canard after she told me this.
Well, I don’t believe it. Tell me the district and I’ll look up the salary schedule. Better yet, you show me since you’re the one making the claim.
My husband works for SDUSD. He is on step 11. He has a Masters w/ 90 units. He gets paid about $65,000 a year.

I could care less if you believe it or not. I heard it from the horses mouth. Maybe SDUSD pays worse than the IE? Still doesn’t change the fact that teachers are not universally horribly paid in this state despite what the CTU would have you believe.

May 22, 2009 at 11:04 AM #404248afx114ParticipantI know quite a few teachers from all over the county, and they don’t get paid particularly well. Then again, all of the teachers I know don’t do it for the money, so it doesn’t bother them much.
