You live in an urban area with close to a quarter of a million people. And you think there is a high crime rate because there has been 2 rapes in the past three years? Good luck finding someplace safer.

October 12, 2009 at 11:59 AM #467661urbanrealtorParticipant
This past Friday morning at about 1AM I was awakened in my house by police sirens that were obviously very close by – a little to close in fact.
The next day I asked my neighbors if they knew what had gone on – they had no idea. Finally a blurb in the Press Enterprise appeared on Saturday: a man was attacked and stabbed (attempted murder?)*very* close to my house. He should recover thankfully. Isolated incident? Nope.
Last year there was a shooting in the same general area.
A list of other crimes in my area:
*(2) rapes in the last approx. 2-3 years
*Open air drug dealing
*Gang fights
*Public drunkenness
*Used condoms laying around our park bench areas
*Constant vandalismand a long list of petty crimes.
I’m just trying to figure out – should I stay or should I go? I don’t want my kids growing up around this crap; and yet these type of things could happen anywhere…
Sorry about all this.
It was a boring month and I had to spice it up.
