The people who decided to “nice up” are policy are certainly to blame for caving under pressure (just as democrats who now claim they caved under pressure are responsible for their own actions). I do think it is true that our policy was designed in an attempt to appease people who were never going to be appeased. The fault, in the end, does lie with those who made the decision.
I do not think staying the course in the answer. Am I pointing a finger at democrats when I say that?
zk, I say that the question of whether or not we invaded is moot. This is pointing fingers? I think we need to look forward. You, however, seem anxious to rehash that issue and point fingers.
The democrats are, almost en masse, claiming they were dupes and that the entirety of our problems in Iraq lies squarely with the republicans.
When have I EVER claimed that the republicans have no responsibility? I have made it clear that I think we need to change our policy. If I were a party-line finger pointer, I would not be saying that.
Rumsfeld is gone already! Baker and company will now hand over Iraq to the Iranians. Terrorism was rewarded. Surrender will occur before the 2008 election. End of thread.
gold_dredger, love your comments.
Can you expand on your theory above?
Also, if you were in charge, what would your strategy be now?
