“Most interestingly of all, they were predominantly white, and many had jobs.”[/quote]Arraya: And therein lies the double danger of assumption and the echo-chamber. I’ll admit I had bought wholely into the idea that these were “welfare state” kids and I was DEAD WRONG.
Wow. That’s a wake-up call, huh?

They were doing it for the thrill, nothing more. They think that being part of a mob means there will be no consequences – the numbers give them immunity.
I get a laugh out of how people try to read deeper meanings into all of this. It may start with a small group who claim to be “disenfranchised” but then anyone might, and will, jump in. Many people easily get caught up in the excitement of the moment and quickly forget about values when part of a mob. There’s not much more too it.

Admittedly, So was I, at first.
What’s really disturbing about this, is that, it appears there was a shooting that sparked it with the typical lower class response(smashing windows, huffing and puffing, etc – but then, the middle class came in and used it for FREE STUFF. That’s SICK!
