Great News in Pacific Beach has cooking classes – not sure if everyone pitches in or watches, but it’s a start.
Ditto Macy’s.

She comes to your house with her equipment and cooks whatever you want. Not sure how she’d be as a teacher, but she definitely knows what she’s doing.
December 6, 2006 at 11:02 AM #41230AnonymousGuestMy fiance graduated from culinary school a few years ago and is a chef in a French restaurant. He is good with kids, I’m sure he would be interested in something like this. Let me know how to contact you if you are still looking for someone. Good luck to your son!

I contacted Brio, and she charges $50/hr, 4 hr minimum, plus groceries. Kind of pricey.

They have a big commercial kitchen space in the back of the store and they offer weekend kids’ classes and even better, 5-day summer camps with themes like “Global Favorites” or “Delicious Desserts”…one of our kids attended a teen party/cooking class there and had a blast. The camp is a little pricey at $350 for all 5 days, but if you’re planning to do a summer camp anyway, this one would be a huge hit. Here’s their July schedule – http://www.surlatable.com/browse/storeCalendar.jsp?storeId=046&&offset=2
There’s also a place that I’ve heard good things about called Kitchen Art Studio in Mira Mesa that runs kids cooking classes and camps – http://www.kitchenartstudio.net/
