Thanks to those of you who gave this thread some balance. I guess there could be better times to be moving to the USA but in the bright side things can only get better??
We were in SD a few week’s ago sorting out schools for the kids and looking at possible properties to rent for when we arrive in August. We also spoke to many relatively new immigrants who were all pretty upbeat. I guess it’s all a question of where you came from and why you left.

If cab drivers and millions of low-income people can afford to live here, so can I. Mismanagement of public funds by CA is the culprit.

I have been all over this fair land and SD offers an unparalleled lifestyle for people who live an active lifestyle. Great beaches, great waves, great hiking, great biking, great schools, quality health care, young vibrant well educated residents, good jobs, professional sports, within 2 hours of snow sports, desert sports, natural beauty, 2 hours from entertainment capital of the world, ez access to Vegas, HI and Baja CA. Honestly, what else could you want? And we have all of it. Sure its expensive here. Nothing great is cheap. Any bellyachers should take the first bus out to Omaha. Cardiff understand what he is leaving behind and we all should have more respect for the great place we have the privilege of residing in.
sdr
P.S. You notice I didnt even pull out the W word which is what allows you to enjoy all of the above virtually 365 days a year.
