I have my eyes on Boeing right now… A couple of more grounded 787’s should knock the stock down a bit…
Man, kinda terrible news that every few days we hear about another 787 being grounded…
Not much confidence building feeling like you’re boarding a Beta airplane.
I was thinking about Boeing myself. But looking at its stock… it hasn’t gone down even with all the bad news.
It is today… 4%… I’m waiting….See if it falls below 70… I’m sure eventually they’ll get the issues worked out. But, not a lot of confidence building with the 787 right now.
AN, the FAA just grounded all 787’s…Stock is down to 72ish AH.

That’s still only ~10% off recent peak. AAPL is off over 30%. BA’s 2009 bottom at around $45. I might get excited if we see mid 50s, or at least mid 60s. $72 I think is still not that big of a drop.January 16, 2013 at 3:56 PM #757851CoronitaParticipant

January 23, 2013 at 12:27 PM #758342SmellsFeeshyParticipantDoes anyone have any suggestions for stocks/ETFs that look like a good bargain right now? Been trying to add some more equities to my portfolio but everything looks overbought right now.
Been doing well in VYM (Vanguard High Dividend) and have been watching XHB and VNQ (Homebuilds and REIT) but may have missed the boat on those.
January 23, 2013 at 12:37 PM #758345The-ShovelerParticipantI was just saying on another thread, there is almost no fear in the markets right now, which makes me afraid.
But I have a lousy history at stock market timing as well so there.Maybe I learned something, maybe I haven’t.

Yeah, I agree. At this point it seems like the only plays may be short plays, but I don’t really like to be short on anything for more than a month or so and I’m looking for something a little more long term (maybe 6-12 months).
January 23, 2013 at 1:27 PM #758364CoronitaParticipant…well I’ll be the first to admit… I missed this bull run that happened on the way up (at least part of it )…. My allocation missed my mark….
Oh well, you win some , you lose some….
No I have no choice but to wait and see….
January 23, 2013 at 1:33 PM #758365spdrunParticipantI had some SPWR. In the last two months, it has jumped from about 4 to over 8.

Luckily I follow your advice and do the opposite of you… j/k :-D. I was in the market the whole time. I lose some in APPL option, especially after today, but I have GOOG call to hopefully offset that. NOK, AGNC, SOXL, QCOM, PT have been treating me well. Especially NOK when everyone was bashing on them. I got in at ~ $2.6x.January 23, 2013 at 2:59 PM #758378CoronitaParticipant
Does anyone have any suggestions for stocks/ETFs that look like a good bargain right now? I think you guys got your entry point…. Me thinks tomorrow is going to start raining again…At least that’s what I’m hoping for.

Agreed. I think it’s probably better to go short than long at this point, but admit that anything can happen. This is a very difficult market to navigate, IMHO.
January 24, 2013 at 4:33 AM #758411CoronitaParticipantI wasn’t suggesting shorting. Doing anything in the first day of volatility is seriously risky.

Granted, you didn’t, but I tend to sell short when things look overvalued, so am always thinking from that angle. 🙂
