While I’m prognosticating, the Chargers win the division and The Lakers repeat.[/quote]TG: Bet you heaved a big ass sigh of relief when the Lakes re-inked Odom, huh?
I think getting LT and Merriman back healthy will do wonders for the Bolts. I think the Broncos are going to be a frickin’ joke (as much as I hate Shanahan, I think he was “the” guy for that organization), as are the Chefs. As for the Raiders, well, my heart says one thing and my head says another. I followed my heart one time and it led me right into divorce court, so I’ll listen to what my head is saying, which is the Chargers win the division.
Apropos of nothing, where do you think Vick will wind up and in what role?

While were threadjacking, I am very happy they signed the candyman, it’s funny that the high taxes in California nearly drove him away, when you make 8 million a year, signing in a state with no taxes becomes a big deal, the Lakers have to pay 8-10% more to be even with other teams and the salary cap doesn’t accomodate state taxes. It’s not something I ever really thought about until the odom negotiations, now when they talk about raising taxes my focus will no longer be on businesses leaving California, it will be players. That might be a new slogan for the Howard Jarvis folks “Save our sports, stop new taxes.”
No clue on Vick, the teams that could use him can’t take the public relations beating, the teams that don’t care, don’t need him. If I had to guess, the Raiders, Skins or Pats, cause thier owner or coach are in the “I don’t care what people think” or the “I’m crazy, nobody will blame me” mode. But none of three really need him.

July 31, 2009 at 3:37 PM #439802SD RealtorParticipantActually Scaredycat your analysis is incorrect.
Lets set the facts. August of 29 the DOW peaked at about 380. From there it went down in a classic lower lows, and lower highs series of cyclical patterns until it bottomed out in July of 1932 at 41. So about a 92% loss. Now, you cannot find any retracement in that secular decline from August of 29 to July of 1932 a retracement that exceeded much more then 22%. Nothing at all.
Now it is true that up until our March lows the Dow was exhibiting a very similar pattern to the depression behavior. However we have blown that out of the water and the retracement we have seen has blown through the retracements seen in 1929, 1930, 1931, and 1932.
In fact the retracement we have seen since March of 2009 looks EXACTLY like the retracement seen in July of 1932. Not a little bit like it, but just like it.

Now can we go back down? Of course. You are right the old way of doing business is done. The old way had to do with free markets and we are steering away from that. However that changes nothing about the rich getting richer. Nor does it change the fact that perception is much more important then reality and as long as government manipulation is alive and well, perceptions of our markets will be maintained. I am not saying our economy is healthy by any means. I am saying it doesnt really matter.
