ParticipantTo all realtors out there-do you think it’s acceptable to contact people who are divorcing based on accessible public documents and market yourself?
Your opinion is much appreciated.October 3, 2011 at 8:42 AM #729980UCGal

ParticipantDitto. With that said its datbase marketing which has been around for years and only gets more targeted. Its not just realtors its everywhere from every direction and dont expect less of it in the future

And as I said, that is atypical for title rep.
The reason most title reps still give that is because giving out information is not typically considered a kickback or Respa violation.October 3, 2011 at 10:20 PM #729999urbanrealtor
ParticipantShe was probably tired of providing farm packs.

I concur with other opinions.
Its legal.
In the same way that my friends at http://www.godhatesfags.com are legal.Just horrible and indecent.
If an agent on my crew did that, there would be a conversation regarding my opinions.

ParticipantWithout a doubt, realtors need to watch their peers for unethical behavior and make sure that this doesn’t become an accepted practice. Times are tough but professionalism cannot be thrown overboard.

Its legal…[/quote]Concur with UR on this. But it DOES portray the offending “Realtor” as a “kick-the-tire (used-car) salesman.” This “capture-a-listing” direct-mail method didn’t enhance his “image” one iota. To each his own…

ParticipantIf you can make one deal though the financial benefit would probably outweigh any image detriment …
I once saw a sleazy lawyer ad that I felt was particularly deceptive. I didn’t forward it to the bar but maybe I should have.
