I beleive those things are happening in your world and it just adds more evidence that we live in pretty different worlds.
Uh, given time, sdr, I could go back into my exhaustive storehouse of U and T (later U/T) clippings organized by date and type of event and find a few well-publicized “events” and public “skirmishes” that happened in “your world,” scan them and plaster them up here, as I was a subscriber for more than 30 years when I recently canceled my subscription. To your benefit right now, they’re all resting soundly in my attic. Perhaps you may not remember any because you weren’t here or perhaps not paying attention?? Well, you can always pick the brain of longtime agents around your turf if you ever REALLY need to know about a certain property, right?
Sorry, nobody’s “world” is immune from real life and it is ridiculous to assume otherwise.

September 7, 2010 at 5:41 PM #601833sdrealtorParticipantOf course no one’s world is immune but there are differences in degrees. There seems to be more of that there than here. (snark on) However, just yesterday I saw two brothers wrestling on their front yard and young mother mother with a baby carriage who was jaywalking. (snark off)

September 7, 2010 at 6:46 PM #601863NotCrankyParticipant
I don’t think buyers should be able to enter a seller’s house without the seller’s authorization, but perhaps there could be a security firm that sent special “rent-a-cops” (pre-screened, with access to lockboxes) out whenever a buyer wanted to look at houses. The buyers could pay the hourly rate for these registered home-showers, and we could all live happily ever after. π
edit: of course, the seller could opt for an “open” lockbox that (perhaps pre-registered/screened) buyers could open with a special code, if the sellers would prefer that (vacant house, or staged house with no valuables, etc.).
Or the sellers could just be home and check drivers licenses of pre-qualified, pre-registered buyers. A two hour open house once a week is plenty. That’s more secure than a realtor letting anyone and everyone come into an open house straight off the street(not that they all do that).September 7, 2010 at 6:46 PM #601954NotCrankyParticipant
I don’t think buyers should be able to enter a seller’s house without the seller’s authorization, but perhaps there could be a security firm that sent special “rent-a-cops” (pre-screened, with access to lockboxes) out whenever a buyer wanted to look at houses.
