The House was styled on the Commons. That’s why it was elected when the Senate was not (look it up). The House of Lords has essentially no power. That is because it is a hereditary house of peerage (not elected citizens) and that is why its future is currently being debated as to reform. The last time I was in Britain, the consensus was that it would soon be replaced with an elected senate. However, since the country already has a working legislature, nobody really cares enough to move this forward.

As far as the MEP in question, I think that his post is slightly more relevant than a Ron Paul candidacy. At least Mr. Daniel gets to be elected to a paying job and some actual influence on public policy, but again, it still just the European Parliment. Sort of like being governor of central Baja.

While I am not a fan of Ms. P, Allan, she is pretty good with the big words. But yes she is certainly vampiric.

Since the country has no written constitution, its not clear (at least to me) that the HOL has more power than prince Harry.
