This is my first post on this site, although I have been lurking around for sometime. I am wondering what everyone’s thoughts are on the market downtown moving forward. After considering a first home purchase in the suburbs, we have been toying with the idea of purchasing a condo downtown that we would live in for 3-6 years and then keep as a rental. We are looking at either the Marina (where we currently live) or the East Village. Any thoughts on whether the ridiculously high (IMO) rents downtown will continue to stay the same or rise? Thoughts on Marina versus East Village?
And yes I already know that for many the HOAs are hard to stomach! We are willing to pay those HOAs for what we get to live downtown but the I do wonder how that factors into the equation about whether it is a good rental investment long term….
