It seems you’re committed to buying something, you’re just not sure what you want to buy and/or how much you want to pay, is that right?
If your PITI payments are about the same as your rent, you might as well buy.
How well do you like this home? Is it as good as “the one” you’ve mentioned to us before (or the multiple “ones” you’ve mentioned)? How does it compare to the other ones, quality and price-wise?
FWIW, I share your fears, but envy your position because at least you can find something somewhat desirable that’s 50% off peak price. We are nowhere near those levels in the areas we’re looking in.
