The house is already half off. Amazingly, in the end, there are worst things in life than, OMG!, I have a mortgage and own a home!

The problem with housing unlike stocks or other assets if YOU HAVE TO HAVE A PLACE TO LIVE in.

Based on your profession (and your spouse), nothing wrong with paying like 1400/month (w/ interest deduction) to pay for a place to live in.

My old 2 bedroom apartment in the worst parts of SD almost cost that already…

Good luck on closing and once you get the keys, you’ll be so happy with all the extra time you have instead of trying to find a decent place you actually want to live in. 🙂

It seems you’re committed to buying something, you’re just not sure what you want to buy and/or how much you want to pay, is that right?

If your PITI payments are about the same as your rent, you might as well buy.

How well do you like this home? Is it as good as “the one” you’ve mentioned to us before (or the multiple “ones” you’ve mentioned)? How does it compare to the other ones, quality and price-wise?

FWIW, I share your fears, but envy your position because at least you can find something somewhat desirable that’s 50% off peak price. We are nowhere near those levels in the areas we’re looking in.
