ParticipantHang in there partypup. I know you are a survivor and you will emerge triumphant. This might even force you to do something else that would be more to your liking. Things happen for a reason.

ParticipantThanks for your detailed anecdote, partypup. I always enjoy your posts.
We have a number of friends up in LA in the entertainment industry as well (mostly support work: audio/video equipment, editing, make-up, prop design, gaffers/grips, transportation, etc.), and they have all been hurting, too. Like you’ve said, this has been going on for a while.
As you know, a lot of money in LA comes from the entertainment industry. It’s so much bigger than most people realize, as there is so much employment “behind the scenes.” The downsizing there is going to have a major impact on housing in LA and also the rest of So Cal to a lesser degree, IMHO.

ParticipantIMO the great thing about partypup’s job is that her skills and experience will apply regardless of the medium, whether it’s TV or internet entertainment or even shows on a mobile device (which will be one of the “next big things” I hope).
Even though I’m an engineer I’ve worked in film for a few years now and know how demanding it can be. It’s exciting and frustrating at the same time.
