TB is still prevelant in Mexico and I believe Mexico City is the smoggiest or one of the smoggiest cities in the world. Bad lungs and flu-not a good mix. Other than that, I feel there is a huge over reaction by everyone.
Here’s a flu article from 1995 http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/2005-10-08-flu-pandemic_x.htm

April 28, 2009 at 12:59 AM #388633EugeneParticipant

Open question to everyone, here. I don’t think this virus will end up being particularly deadly. I would be surprised if it ended up exceeding a 5% mortality rate in the U.S…..
partypup, 5% of the US population is over 15 million people. I consider that a lot of dead people.
Of course, the whole thing is over-hyped. It fills air-time, and gives people a scary thrill, like a good ride at Disney. It’s as likely to become a repeat of the 1918 flu as the two-headed baby fathered by aliens will get up from the cover of The National Enquirer and walk around with a ray-gun.
But it’s a good diversion. Gets people’s minds off bad economy towards something else. And then you’ll learn that, not only is there no murderous pandemic flu, but also home sales are up. Dow 10,000 anyone?
