I love stinking hot weather. It brings back horrible memories of growing up in NJ amidst 99 degree weather with 95% humidity. I want my kids to experience that kind of suffering just like I did. We go to Palm Desert twice a Summer also. As long as you have a great pool its fine. We swim after breakfast, have lunch by the pool and then head in for a nap in the a/c. Back out for a couple hours, have a BBQ dinner, go out for ice creme and then back for a night swim. We all love it. The Westin in Scottsdale has waterslides and a lazy river. Throw in cold Sauvignon Blanc, for me, slushy drinks for the kids and its heaven meets hell onEarth for us.

Today, the supreme court codified increased tyranny in this country by affirming Arizona’s “Show me your Papers” law.
Soon, I have little doubt you will have to “carry your papers” wherever you travel across the country just as the Jews did in Nazi Germany.
Oh, and if I were you I’d stay the hell out Arizona; especially if you have brown skin.
Tyranny? Asking someone whether they are here legally or not is tyranny? On which planet?
June 26, 2012 at 9:46 PM #746590briansd1Guestsdrealtor, I just came back from Philly. The weather yesterday was beautiful. Had dinner in university city and walked to Clark Park with friends.
Looked at all those old Victorian houses in the neighborhood and I felt sorry for those who don’t have central air and heat. The fireflies were out and beautiful — not a San Diego summer sight.
June 26, 2012 at 9:54 PM #746591CDMA ENGParticipantGive me a fvcking break (to use FLU’s spelling).
I remember being 9 years old and my grandfather being hassled in Lemon Grove so don’t make out like AZ is the bad guy and no other state has similar practices. We are both from AZ. The biggest problem is that the Federal Government does not enforce the border to the level that they had promised. AZ in took it upon themselves to protect the border and of course in true AZ fashion were overzealous. You would understand where the zeal comes from if you lived there. There are real issues in the state related to the lack of border enforcement and it has nothing to do with racism or jobs.
Blame the Feds. If they had done what they were supposed to be doing and actually enforcing the laws they enacted then AZ would have never went down that path.
Also, I support the rights of states to enact their laws as long as they are constitutional. I am for gay marriage however I respected the ideal that if a state does not want to legalize it then that is their option. Of course I am completely against the idea of making it a enduring constitutional amendment but overall the idea of states making and enforcing their own laws are part of the federalist system.
Don’t like it… stay out of AZ. Vote with your dollar.

You got out just in time. July in Philly is notoriously the Dog Days of Summer. The weather changes quickly for the worse around July 4th. Stay away for the next 4 weeks as the heat/humidity breaks around Aug 1st each year as well. The only people in Philly on weekends during July are those that don’t have a place down the shore to go to.
June 27, 2012 at 6:14 AM #746597SD RealtorParticipantWell said CDMA.
The feds still will enforce either. Did you see what DHS told Arizona yesterday?

Why have a federal law when it is not enforced?

June 27, 2012 at 6:59 AM #746600ninaprincessParticipantI am Asian, foreign born and I support this Arizona law. I have a copy of my passport emailed to my personal email address just in case. I have never had any problem with cops pulling over because I am brown. I am sure there are some racist White people out there but I according to my experience I think minority people are way more racist. I was in a car with my Mexican coworker going out for lunch and he was clearly speeding in his BMW. When the cop pulled him over, he started complaining about racism.
June 27, 2012 at 9:29 AM #746611briansd1GuestThe SCOTUS has spoken. The AZ law was mostly struck down.

CE
Little know fact – Obama doubled the number of deportations compared to Bush.

There is overwhelming evidence that the former is true. In parts of the state it is all but agency policy.

Somehow I can believe this but given the sheer amount of Native American Indians residing in the state, I just have a really hard time with it. I guess these cops think they can tell the difference and proceed accordingly :=0
June 27, 2012 at 10:06 AM #746621SD RealtorParticipantOnce again…
Why should we have a citizenship law that is not enforced?
Why even HAVE the law then?
This is not an Obama problem, it did not start with him. However the portion of the law that SCOTUS upheld was upheld because the feds argued that it PREVENTED them from enforcement of proper processing of illegal aliens… but they didn’t enforce the law from the beginning. Even SCOTUS could not believe that argument from the feds and thus upheld that portion of the AZ argument.
It really is comical…
June 27, 2012 at 10:08 AM #746622AnonymousGuestThat is a bullshit assumption, show me some proof of that? AZ has a very large “brown” population, you are naive to belive that the police force does not include many “brown” people too.
