Drywall, I hate drywall! Drywall is two pieces of paper with some chalk in between. Next time I build a house interior stucco will be a consideration.

I had a contracter buddy who just built his home and showed me the framing he did with these things that look like the capital letter I, about a foot high that support the second floor. Then on top he screwed and glued 3/8 or 1/2 inch plywood to that, you can put a treadmill on the second floor and not hear it below. He loses a little ceiling height because the floor is about a foot or more thick but it is worth it. When i asked him how much extra he paid in materials it was suprisingly low, something like a couple grand. Rustico, in my next house i am going to have them not tack down a corner of the carpet in a seldom used room so if you ever visit, please ask and I will direct you to your corner so you won’t have to rip up any carpet, if someone asks I’ll just tell them that it is a new Feng Shui concept called Rustico’s corner and it brings good luck.
