Your points are absolutely correct. Obama is just another politician. Obama is firmly embracing the expansion of governmental power that accelerated under the Bush admin.
I don’t believe that Health Care reform is in the same class as the Patriot Act nor do I believe we will be putting bullets in Gramps.
As far as the voting of the Patriot Act you are right, most Democrats voted for it too but what you conveniently forget is the only opposition was from Democrats and the whole attitude at the time was if you don’t vote for it you are a terrorist sympathizer.
I am really disappointed at some of the actions of the Obama administration. When you give the government an inch they take a mile and they never give any of the power grabsback.
I bash any President or governmental official who abuses power. Were you bashing Bush while he was pushing the Patriot Act or were you jumping up and down and saying “Democrats support it too”?
I have no party loyalty, only loyalty to my fellow American and the Country. Our country need Health Care reform and will be the first to admit the plan put forward is pathetic but it will force change.
Do you only Bash Dems and Republicans can do no wrong?[/quote]
Sob: If you read my post above, I pointedly mentioned that I haven’t voted Republican since 1996. There was no way in hell that I would have ever voted for Dubya (my wife is from Texas and I saw firsthand what he was all about during his governorship of that fine state).
I don’t just bash Dems. I do, however, reserve my ire for anyone who plays on party politics (either side) to somehow advance the idiotic notion that either party has any of our interests in mind.
The government we have at present is precisely the bloated, dangerous monolith that Madison, Burke, Jefferson et al warned about. When you think about the various attitudes of the Founding Fathers regarding taxes, liberty and freedom from government molestation (in all it’s manifold forms), our federal government is exactly the sort of thing they would have taken up arms against.
I don’t think Obamacare is a workable notion and the fact that he’s in a back room at the White House cutting deals with the likes of Billy Tauzin makes me retch. Where is all this “transparency” we heard so much about? Or accountability?
To idiots like Limbaugh who bloviate about socialism, I would point out that they are missing the entire picture here. Of course, Limbaugh has always been part of the problem, and never the solution.
