Scarlett, I still feel like you should give some more thought as to that second, larger listing on Ramsay Ave for your family (east end of UC). Both UCGal and CDMA ENG gave rave reviews for the neighbors and area and UCGal grew up there. It doesn’t get any better than that in your price range. I believe UC can better withstand cyclical downturns than the other areas you are considering. Again, just my .02.
I AM going to arrange to see it next week hopefully to see if it would fit our needs. I am surprised it’s still on the market and that they dropped their price last month from 525K. Of course I wouldn’t be happy if we’d decide to choice into MMHS but that’s a few years in the future…
It went pending yesterday. I will drive by it this weekend though.

Again, just my .02.
Just wanted to report that I drove on Ramsay Ave. The neighborhood is indeed very nice and we’d be perfectly fine there. For some reason there were a LOT more (very decent) cars parked on both sides of Ramsey than any other streets; it’s possible there was some event at someone’s house, the street is not that long. There was nothing junky or unkempt. I can see why UCGal and/or friends raved about it. Seemed very friendly. I must have been mistaken about where I drove before, my apologies.
I also drove thru some of SW Mira Mesa and some areas were a better fit than others. The houses themselves were fine, but in some areas there were WAY too many cars/SUVs parked on the street (which household has 4-5 cars? unless you squeeze multiple families in one SFR. Or if one is just into having many cars). I understand some people don’t park even one car in the garage, but besides the many cars on the street (not too old/junky) there were 2 in every driveway. Perhaps there were again some get-togethers held in some of the houses, but since several streets in the same neighborhood were like that, not that likely. So while I like NW Mira Mesa best, some areas of SW are also ok for us.

At least you now have another area opened up for you. Additionally, you never know if the one that went pending will come BOM.
Good luck with your search, Scarlett.
