Where will the new jobs be if Hillary get elected?[/quote]Infrastructure.

Also add automation and advances in technology that made some labor obsolete.
Add that companies have a significant technological advantage over someone trying to start from scratch. TSM and samsung lead the foundry business with intel maybe able to catch up.
September 13, 2016 at 3:09 PM #801204ltsdddParticipantTrump building the wall would actually create a boatload of jobs.

Yes, but you know that while the business would go to a u.s. company, the labor building the wall probably would come from Mexico and be built on the side of Mexico since it could be done much cheaper than hiring American labor, and we know that American CEOs would love to screw over American workers and cast redirect the problem on those pesky colored people that keep stealing “your job”, while laughing all the way to the Bugatti dealership.
And they would probably contract part of the wall building to pre fabed wall units done in China by a company that never built a wall, the same way the CA government contracted out building the new part of the Bay Bridge to a company in China that never built a bridge, which ended up costing us taxpayers more that contracting it to a us company.
Gotta love those American company /entity management decisions
September 13, 2016 at 3:29 PM #801206HobieParticipantDoubt if the wall will get built. eVerify takes care of illegal’s getting jobs and will self deport. Next a change in policy to letting the border patrol do there thing should take care of the rest.
Remember Trump is a good negotiator and my bet is this is simply a giveaway he is saving for later.
His meeting with Mex Pres went very well.

High cost of energy? Did you really say that? You may not have noticed but we’re closing in on 2 years of oil glut. And the reason that coal jobs aren’t coming back is that nobody needs the amount of coal that’s being mined. It has nothing to do with regulations or unions.
We can only hope that during Hillary Clinton’s two terms in office that job growth is as good as it’s been the last 78 or so months. Or as good as it was during Bills’ two terms.

Oh yeah. Very well. “We’re not paying for your f’ing wall” is exactly why he said it wasn’t discussed.
September 13, 2016 at 4:00 PM #801209bearishgurlParticipantGlad to see here that my (current and former) nemesis’ are now discussing that all important border wall (as if it could become a possibility) :=]
The “consensus” down here in my world among those “border dwellers” is that the border wall must be impermeable … that is that its foundation should be dug deep enough to prevent people crawling under it or digging tunnels beneath it. I have heard these suggestions (and more) from local “border-wall supporters” which are representative of local business people as well as individuals of ALL races and Nationalities including Hispanic, Filipino, Caucasian, Black, Native American and/or any combination thereof.
Nice to see you here posting again, SK! I see that your great state of AZ (AriDzona, which I spent two entire days driving thru in recent weeks … SW to NE corner and vice versa) is turning redder by the day. Of course, I didn’t make it through before getting my tires sniffed out by the well-trained German Shepards working your infamous east-west roving ICE checkpoints :=0

No, it’s not getting redder. The ICE checkpoint on 8, east of the CA border doesn’t move. It’s been in the same place for at least 5 years.

Trump support among minorities is almost non-existent. Hispanic support is less than 1/2 of what Romney’s was 4 years ago, which was 1/3 less than Bush’s 8 years earlier. In some surveys, his support among African Americans is, within the margin of error, zero.
More than half of his support is from deplorables. You know, racists, xenophobes, homophobes. Clinton’s mistake in describing that support is that she underestimated it. More than 30% of his supporters think that freeing the slaves was a mistake. Great group you’ve thrown yourself in with. He is a shitstain on the country’s underpants that will never come out.

Your state was very red until HRC got a “bounce” from her convention where everyone sung kumbaya. Then it became slightly bluer and has been turning redder again in the month of September.
You must know that the “fat lady” hasn’t even entered the stage yet, SK.

I don’t see why immigration (legal or illegal) is a big enough deal to justify expanding the surveillance state and police state. More electronic tracking of employees is the former, increased power of the Border Patrol is the latter.
The current situation is fine. Honestly, I’d rather work with quite a few illegal immigrants vs a lot of lazy-ass locally-born folk.

Those deep pockets include the millions of “liberal elite” in CA. Having been a longtime local Dem activist myself for nearly nine years, no one knows this fact better than I do.
I don’t believe enough “minorities” (whatever that is supposed to mean) are being adequately polled by the major pollsters. The only “polls” which will be entirely believable are those votes which are cast for the November 8 election. You must know that many people aren’t going to speak their truth if they think they will just be chastised for it. Voting, whether by mail or in person, is private. This is the only act that will tell the tale.

Especially if they have children who are US citizens who are enrolled in US schools (with free transportation to/from and free breakfast/lunch 5 days per wk) and their child(ren)’s other parent is collecting SNAP benefits for them and has a place to live in the US (whether under their own name or someone else’s). These workers will simply remain underground and continue to work “under the table” doing landscaping, housekeeping and other labor for individuals and sole proprietors, as they are now. Nothing will change.
