Or just tell your kids to marry up and not marry down, that would be easier. Why would someone with “considerable real estate holding” actually want to marry significantly downward where a prenup would be necessary….just saying..
It just reminds me of Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey.
Well, like I said. I have some pretty weird friends of friends.
One colleague is a surgeon in late 50ies who married a trophy spouse completely at the other extreme roughly in 30ies. After 3 kids, wife files for divorce and total horndog. While married, asked spouse for a 4-some. I shit u not. The sad part is person is total status symbol driven.. Like all she does is talk about design brand, design this designer now. She’s really annoying. Every single time we see her, both of us wants to drop kick her.
See, what I find very interesting is the people who are really wealthy in my sphere of friends are really cool people and don’t give a flying fck about all these status things. It’s the wannabe wealthy that feel like they constantly have to remind people about the money they have and status. Really ghetto and pretty pathetic. And the most boring ass parties you can possibly attend. I guess that’s why the spouse was into 4-somes, lol.
My worldview has been rocked, my next phase of life was meant to include designer clothes and foursomes. Now I need to throw my master plan out the window and the well of all my ambition.
I guess there’s still Bingo in St George though!

BTW, it is not as hot as the fastest growing big city in the US: Phoenix.
October 7, 2021 at 11:15 AM #823343gzzParticipantCalifornia is a community property state. Property purchased before marriage and inherited at anytime is not community property unless you take steps to add it. And even then you may get credit for simply adding to the community without compensation.

October 8, 2021 at 7:49 AM #823346The-ShovelerParticipantIMO SD seems to be doing very well,
But with Oracle and now Tesla there does seem to be a pattern forming here of the very rich leaving the Bay area.
Also LA is in a spiral and not making it easer to stay IMO.

It never really made sense to expect that a full fledge car factory could be built in high cost bay area like Fremont. The only reason why Tesla was able to start there was because that was the former factory of GM/Toyota NUMMI that made toyota corollas and chevy novas/pontiac vibes and Tesla got a sweetheart deal after GM/Toyota ended that partnership and GM got rid of the factory.
A little story about this factory, NUMMI. It was a joint factory between Toyota and GM to learn from each other. Toyota took their learnings from GM and used them to open Toyota Motor Manufacturing USA in Kentucky, so it was more or less successful… GM took their learnings and tried to apply Toyota Production System to other assembly plants, and largely failed.
October 8, 2021 at 11:11 AM #823349sdrealtorParticipantTesla is moving the front office but expanding operations in CA. Net-net is nothing. And CA is constantly birthing new unicorn companies. The premature demise of CA could be the WSJ’s favorite new story the last 40 years
October 8, 2021 at 4:30 PM #823351The-ShovelerParticipantAlso Musk does not want to piss off his largest customer base so he sort of had to frame it that way IMO.
Musk did move to Texas as well though.October 28, 2021 at 8:18 AM #823449EconProfParticipantOK, another factoid that may predict housing price trends by state. I believe where people are moving to or out of is one of the predictors of where RE will do well or poorly.
For a variety of reasons, college enrollments nationwide are falling: down 3.2% last fall, and 3.4% this fall, accordingly to the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center.
Anyway, the local St. George university is up this year by 1.85% to 12,266, and at a
nearby Cedar City college enrollments jumped by 20.65%.
Gee, I wonder how many of these new students are from CA?October 28, 2021 at 8:48 AM #823450AnonymousGuestWell UCSD just announced record enrollment this year. Although I wonder how many of those kids are from out of state (or more specifically out of Country, China I’m looking at you!) as that has been the trend for UC schools.
