an actual conversation this morning:
me: oh no, there’s one of those islamic centers next to willow grove – what do you think? cause for concern?
wife: yes, that’s scary.
me: i agree.

December 5, 2015 at 7:33 PM #792101dumbrenterParticipant
Just saw this thread. I don’t understand why OP even started this thread (except for possible trolling purposes). Why is he gravitating back to Del $ur when the monthly HOA/MR there is “eye-watering.” And the current new development there is selling homes which have “particle board cabinets with metal drawers … for $1.5M” (quoted from his own words in the OP from the “Best Family Areas” thread).
Am I missing something here? there is no mention of HOA or “particle boards cabinets” anywhere by OP on this thread.
Unless you know OP personally and refer to some other conversation?December 5, 2015 at 7:51 PM #792103AnonymousGuest
Yes, I’ll buy right next to McDonald’s instead of a moslem center anyday.
Well let’s hope that nobody is hunting humans that day.
I guess there’s not much reason to bring up the overwhelming data that shows that one is far more likely to be killed by a non-religious crazy than a religious one of any faith. Or that schools are far more dangerous than mosques. Or that houses of any faith are more likely to be the victims of violence than the source of violence…
Because Muslims.

yes, her stomach is weak. we should all be ambivalent to some muslims becoming radicalized, plotting, and executing a deadly terrorist attack a few days ago. it’s not like they worshipped at an islamic center or anything. oh wait.

Thanks for the reference njtosd. Just looked and I see 10 pages of activity there! I know it is hard for some folks to just keep the thread thoughts within that thread, but calling OP names on a separate unrelated thread, how mature is that?
Do we really have to track what was said yesterday? or where folks say they live? Which you have no way of verifying anyway?
And nobody here is running for office, are they? Why bring up such stuff? These two were unrelated topics.December 6, 2015 at 7:35 AM #792116spdrunParticipant
yes, her stomach is weak.
I’d recommend some acidophilus supplement and testing for food allergies then….

A few Muslims out of millions in the US? What about Christians who go berzerk and shoot up clinics and dynamite Federal buildings? Should you be afraid to buy next to a church?
December 6, 2015 at 7:48 AM #792118EssbeeParticipantMy daughter plays spring soccer with weekly games at Willow Grove and I have never even noticed a mosque nearby. Nor have I noticed one on Camino del Sur itself. I am going to have to look again.

just check a maps application – a tad south/west thar she blows.
December 6, 2015 at 9:32 AM #792126spdrunParticipantAren’t you being the “protectionist” by saying that it’s not safe to own property near a mosque? If anything, we SHOULD be creating mixed communities. If a community is mixed, there’s less of a chance of the mosque-goers being isolated. Isolated people are more easily radicalized. So as a practical matter, all people should buy property in all communities, in order to keep the “melting pot” going.

I heard a professor discuss this.
Christians are angry lone wolves. Muslims are radical Islamists. When Christians do it, oh well, shit happens. When Muslims do it, we spend trillions combatting them, which oppresses them more and creates more, which requires spending trillions more. I should have started a security business right after 9/11.
