So dumbrenter, I’ve told you where the church bells play. Since you have “seen a little too much of it first-hand,” where I can one go here in SoCal to experience these obnoxious Islamic calls for prayer that are taking over our communities?
I never claimed I saw it first-hand in SoCal. I did not even mention the location(s) where I saw it first-hand.
Suggest you re-read what I have written.January 13, 2016 at 8:17 AM #793191AnonymousGuest
One historically used the religion for control of state but essentially retreated after a long bloody cycle of violence. I said that the two religions are equal under the law, you counter that they are different based on a ridiculously simplified summary of history. Nobody said the history of the two religions were the same.
So why do you keep steering the conversation toward political violence?
You see, “the other” religion isn’t a single-minded entity: it’s about a billion people, the vast majority of which have never committed an act of violence.
I’m still waiting for the example of any credible Muslims leaders in America who advocate this violence you keep mentioning.
(BTW, if you are looking for a really good example of using “violence as a tool to expand politically” you should learn more about the US invasion of Iraq … or does that not count as violence?)
But again, the OP expressed a much more local & mundane fear about buying next to islamic center. I provided example of a community dealing with just such a thing in Michigan. And some of you wanted to shout the OP down and attempted to draw a false equivalence between churches and moslem centers.
So is it “local and mundane” or a global problem? You seem to want it both ways.
I never claimed I saw it first-hand in SoCal. I did not even mention the location(s) where I saw it first-hand.
And for some reason you still haven’t. Because you want to base your argument on some absurd comparison between Southern California and unspecified place that is likely on the other side of the world.
You see, there is no “false” equivalence. There is an absolute equivalence in that all religions are protected by our laws.
I didn’t shout anybody down. I made an argument and called out the glaring insincerity in the OP. You don’t have a good counter-argument so now you are claiming victimhood.
If expressing such a fear makes OP a troll, what does that say about who you are?
The OP wanted to get a reaction by bringing up a an issue that is causing unfounded hysteria. The Islamic center has been there for years along with many others in Southern California. It’s never been a problem. None of them have ever been a problem. You had to go to Michigan to find an example of how it might be a problem and that problem is – gasp! – a potential noise issue!
So what does calling out this troll say about who I am? It says I’m not as naive as some folks here.
Your posts are a wonderful example of the hysteria and resurgent bigotry in America today.

Can you explain what is not equal?
I am surprised you don’t see that (or suspect you don’t seem to want to see that, but will try anyway).
One historically used the religion for control of state but essentially retreated after a long bloody cycle of violence. The other still openly advocates violence as a tool to expand politically. It is an even more deadly variant of a memetic disease that has not been ‘dealt with’ yet.

If expressing such a fear makes OP a troll, what does that say about who you are?
dumbrenter, OP is/was a “troll,” IMO. He had absolutely no interest in buying even a doghouse in Del Sur, which is the subject area of this thread. He put this one-sentence gem of a thread out there for ONE reason only …. that is, to incite hatred for yet another group (whom he doesn’t want to live with) which has settled into every corner of the US in recent decades. Yeah, I just said “every corner.”

Just saw this thread. I don’t understand why OP even started this thread (except for possible trolling purposes). Why is he gravitating back to Del $ur when the monthly HOA/MR there is “eye-watering.” And the current new development there is selling homes which have “particle board cabinets with metal drawers … for $1.5M” (quoted from his own words in the OP from the “Best Family Areas” thread).
I am surprised you don’t see that and are apparently still trying to defend him at this late date!
