Odd, because I thought “Fuck up, move up” was the old adage. I guess when you get to a certain point you just get to keep your old job.
Once there was a time when my bile and venom was reserved for Sir Easy Al Greenspan. (Hmmm, that makes him sound like an ’80s hip-hop artist.) Of course my criticisms fell upon deaf ears … after all, Sir Easy was the architect of the Great Moderation.
That all changed in mid-2007, when Bernanke led the Whorin’ Quantitative Choir in their smash hit performance of “It’s Confined to Subprime.” Never mind that the definition of subprime expanded with each successive crisis, prompting the late great DJ Tanta to remix Bernanke’s hit into “We are All Subprime.”
When the brewing financial crisis reached the point where it was undeniable even by experts and geniuses, Bernanke took bold action … coordinating the largest-ever giveaway of government cheese to the rich and privileged. Many “experts” say he averted a second Great Depression. (Not so sure about Paul “I never met someone else’s dollar I didn’t like” Krugman, who says the stimulus is too small by half and OMFG we’re all going to fucking die.)
